How many weeks do I have to give my boss before I change jobs?

Take in cosideration that I have been working there for the past 5 years.How many weeks do I have to give my boss before I change jobs?
Two weeks is normal, they may say you can go earlier than that (depends on the business) but they need a heads up to get your paperwork through finance to take care of your 401K, last paycheck, accrued vacation days, etc.



Just leaving without a notice is bad, if you need to put them as a contact on any future resume. Don't shoot yourself in the foot over it--while you CAN leave without notice, that can come back and haunt you.How many weeks do I have to give my boss before I change jobs?
You don't HAVE to give any, but 2 weeks is customary.

give notice and u may be escorted out door in next hour.
plan on 2 at a minimum to leave a good impression, but be prepared if they ask you to leave earlier - find out from new job if you can start earlier if that happens
