How do I know if I'm really ready to change jobs?

I've been at my current job almost 18 yrs...The company is going through some some big changes (son taking over) %26amp; he's a complete A**. I like my job, but can no longer tolerate ';the son';. Many others feel the same %26amp; some have left. I really don't wanna go, but I can't stand it here anymore.How do I know if I'm really ready to change jobs?
After 18 years, you should get some sort of pension out of it.

Then again, I worked for sons of guns before. You never know, ';the son'; might end up being the one who leaves.

I know its not something you want to here but its the ';son'; and most likely he's not going anywhere. So you have to decide whether or not your job at this company is worth putting up with. I'm sure you can get the same job at another company without the bullshit. Don't be scared to leave. You can't work at a place if you don't like the working environment. I refuse to work for someone I don't like. Its just unnecessary stress that neither of us needs. Good Luck!
