Can you change jobs in the u.s army once enlisted and off to basic training. ?

My b.f signed up for 88m with airborne..which was optional.. the bonus was with or w.o the airborne, i guess after talking to someone he wants to get out of the airborne part is there any advice on how to do that, or best route ?why would he be hearing its such a bad job ? He is in basic now.. about to graduate to do AIT .. ? Can you change jobs in the u.s army once enlisted and off to basic training. ?
Your BF may opt out of Airborne training at any time. Even in the middle of the Airborne Course, he can quit whenever he wants. The Airborne is STRICTLY voluntary. He should think about it, though. That's a hefty chunk of change (jump pay) that he will be giving up. And it isn't that much more dangerous than ground based ( ';leg'; ) units.

One system of logic would say that a man's chance of survival are better in an elite and highly trained unit, than they are in most others. When I went in the military, I wanted to make sure I was surrounded by the best. That way my chances were better. Can you change jobs in the u.s army once enlisted and off to basic training. ?
I know someone who was in the Airbourne Unit and his family 'flipped' when they found out. They said it's dangerous because more people get killed doing that.
