When you become a Naval EOD Tech does your MOS Change?

Also if your a EOD Tech and you come up for your testing you take it based on EOD not your former MOS.

Sorry not navy and not sure how exactly how to phrase it correctly.

Trying to verify a story. Someone changed jobs and when they tested they took it for the ';former'; job and not as an EOD Tech.

the test was to gain rank. When you become a Naval EOD Tech does your MOS Change?
EOD became its own rating in 2006. If a person switches a rating and actually get through Navy EOD Pipeline, he/she will have EOD as his/her new rating. Later on, the advancement exam will be based on EOD, not his/her former rating.

Before 2006, an EOD Tech had to take exam based on whatever his/her rating at the time, which was very unfair to EOD Technicians, since we only trained on EOD related things (the same goes with Seals, SWCC,and ND; all those also became ratings in 2006). Ex. I was rated as an AO; even though I was an EOD Tech, I had to take AO Exam (extra studying for me). Later on once EOD became a rating, I only had to take EOD related materials. When you become a Naval EOD Tech does your MOS Change?
Navy doesn't use MOS, Navy uses Rate. EOD take EOD advancemen test.
