If I change jobs in Sims 3, do I keep the job's perks?

For example, if I get to the top of the science career, you know how you get to ';experiment on'; things (furniture and such). If I quit the job and go into another career, will I still have this perk. ie. will I still be able to ';experiment on'; things?
