I want to change jobs, advice, suggestions please :)?

Okay here's the deal, Im 24 and for schooling all I have is grade 12, and a level 3 first aid ticket (EMP). Right now I have a good job doing the first aid, pays well, more than id ever get at a min.wage job here in canada. In one month i bring home anywhere from 3000.00 - 5000.00, this is working pretty much the full month, 12 hours a day. But it's a very, very boring job, i basically sit in my truck all day waiting for someone to get hurt, and i have to deal with men all day, everyday, who work in the oilpatch. Ive been doing it for 3 yrs, and I would like too do something else. I really would like to get into helping animals, like work at the local animal shelter, but im just worried that i will go for the job change and bang, im not happy with the pay or i won't like the new job. How can I get over this and just try something new, or should I even bother changing jobs?I want to change jobs, advice, suggestions please :)?
Hi,

If things are that bad at your job, you definately need more of a challenge. Maybe see if there is other openings in the same company you work for. Here's some searching advice:

The most important thing to remember about job searches is that you should use a combination of methods regardless of your location.

Networking - Register at your local Unemployment Office (you don't need to be on unemployment to register for their assistance). They often will have networking groups on a regular basis. They also are a good source for the jobs that never show up in the paper or online.

Check your local paper -- In many cases the paper's classified are now online.

Search Smart Online -- If you don't have a lot of time, spend most of your time at sites that aggregate the job feeds from several job search engines. Prominently these include indeed.com and thingamajob.com.

Organization -- I use a free online application that allows you to track your ads, jobs you apply for, send or print mail merged correspondence, and track your job search history. This site is jobsearchlog.com and it has been very useful to me, please go and check it out!

Good Luck,

If you want to change the first thing you have to do is make a decision that you will change. The next thing you need to do is do something different, do something that you like. I know it's easier to sit here and type this than it is to do it. But the simple truth is that if you do nothing different, nothing changes. I'm sure you know this, so what is holding you back. Answer that and move on. To help you, here are a few things you can check out.
