Switching jobs at Navy boot camp?

Im in dep now as MA but just filled out paperwork to request to change jobs to corpsman HM. (i don't know the name of the paperwork/form)

So now im in the waiting game for my recruiter to call me and say i have a new ship date for HM. However if doesn't happen by my ship date i go as MA.

But i know i can still change my job at boot camp but i dont know how that works. is it more of a guarantee? or does it still depend on if theres an opening? i just want to know my odds of getting to HM

if it cant happen im still fine with MA. its a job in the military and im happy with thatSwitching jobs at Navy boot camp?
You don't change jobs at boot camp. Whatever's on you contract when you ship is what you're going to be doing for the navy.

You don't have an HM contract in hand before you swear in the second time, just have a little chat with your recruiter about dropping out of DEP, but DO NOT ship with a contract guaranteeing something you don't want to do.Switching jobs at Navy boot camp?
If you go to basic, your not gonna be able to switch jobs very easy.

Because when you ship to basic, is dependent on when your A School starts.

They plan it, so you graduate basic, within two weeks of your A school starting.

They will not let you switch jobs and then do nothing for a month, waiting for a A School.
no you cannot change your rating at Boot Camp.

if you do not get to sign a new contract for HM you will be an MA.

Indecisive about changing jobs?

I recently got an offer from another company and I was almost ready to leave my present company because I felt I wasn檛 valued or appreciated but to my surprise my boss made a counter offer which is about $408 higher per month than the new company but the benefits are less. I had meetings with my boss twice in the last month and he told me he cannot afford to raise my salary but now because I檓 leaving and he realizes it is going to be almost impossible to replace me, he is raising my salary much higher than i expected. Should I be at alert? Maybe it's just a ploy to keep me on until they can find a replacement then sack me? Or maybe he is genuinely doing all he can to keep me? Is there a way I can protect myself against this? Or maybe I shouldn't be greedy and just move on to the new company and see how that works out. I would really appreciate advise as I檝e never experienced a high pressured negotiation scenario before.Indecisive about changing jobs?
just take it easy. don't rush into anything!Indecisive about changing jobs?
hi, i am sorry that i can't give you a concrete answer to your question but i may be able to raise some pointers like how long have you been with the company you are working with now? Do you know anyone form your company that was sacked coz of whatever? do you have a contract with your company? if so, how long is the contract? Does your boss have a reputation of not keeping his words?
assuming that this is the same kind of job with salary as the only difference. if the difference in salary is not that significant, i suggest to transfer to the new job so you have the feel of moving on. otherwise, you'll be stuck there forever.

I want to leave my job. How many temporary jobs are out there?

I have been working for a University for 4 years and have been in my current position for 1 year. I am studying for a degree on a part time/evening basis and my current job is not all it is cracked up to be. One of my supervisors is refusing to help me out that much as she says she is too busy and this means that I am taking up a lot of her work whilst she is getting paid for it. This is really affecting my studies and whilst I have been applying for other jobs I am struggling to find any. What I want to know is, if I was to leave my current job (I think at this stage my sanity depends on it as it really is getting to me), what is the likely hood of me being able to get temporary work near enough straight away? I don't mind changing jobs every week/month or so as I think I would like the change and the fact that I do not have so many responsibilities.I want to leave my job. How many temporary jobs are out there?
temp jobs are just that - temporary - you might wind up being unemployed more than working

no guarantee you will get any assignments right away ro on a consistent basis

  • Navy, jobs, october, new fiscal year ?

October, new fiscal year, is it more likely for jobs to be closed or open in the navy ?

If I can get the job that I want now but not on the ship date that I want, is it worth waiting till October ?

Let's say i'm trying to be shipped out asap but the job i want can only ship me June, 2010. Should I just wait for October or should I get the job and ask them to send and early ship for me ?

After I sign a contract and get in DEP how easy is it to change jobs if the jobs I want just open ?

Example; I really like the medical field and engineering. I wouldnt mind doing any of them since I don't have experience in any but they are jobs I wouldnt mind learning more about it. However I'm bias towards the medical and I signed the contract for engineering and still on DEP. How easy is it to change to the medical field after I'm in DEP for engineering ??Navy, jobs, october, new fiscal year ?
which is more important to you? being in the Navy ASAP, or holding out for a specific rating? once you decide that, you will know how to go into the Classifiers office at MEPS.

as for HM.. its is way overmanned and you will be waiting at least 6 months.. IF they even offer it to you. do NOT assume you can DAR and get it after the fact.Navy, jobs, october, new fiscal year ?
its possible that more will open, you have a better shot waiting till oct. always remember more jobs are available at the beginning of the month rather than at the end, regardless of what month it is.
It MAY be easier but remember that there are people in front of you in line that have already been scheduled for fiscal year 2010.

How hard is it to find work these days?

Just curious to know how you are all finding it to change jobs or get a new one or any job at all!

I've been on maternity leave and kind of lost touch with it all, especially with the way the uk is right now.

I'd like to work part time How hard is it to find work these days?
You can easily pick up a part time job at this time of year. High Street stores are recruiting for the busy Christmas period.

At the end of the day a job is a job and it's money in your bank account.

I had been out of work for 5 months until I got my job. I am working as Christmas temp for a retail store. There will be a good chance I will be kept on but if not at least I have gained some experience which is always good to have.

Good luck in your job search! How hard is it to find work these days?
i'm an italian student and when I'll be 18 I'll come in England to find job or study at university!!

Is it a good choice or not??

who said anything about jobs abroad?

but anyway i hear on the news that more and more people are getting good grades so universities are finding it hard to find people. So yes, but it all depends on which job. If you wanna be a cashier etc. its probably easy as long as you have a good cv!
It depends on your qualifications and where you're interested in working.

I'm having no problem at all finding miscellaneous work - retail, Starbucks, etc. Even in a recession, it seems these places have high enough turnover that they're always hiring. On the other hand, it's more difficult to convince a career-related company to hire you as entry-level when funds are tight.

I think the people having the most trouble, however, are top executives (because suffering companies are firing their management) and employees in manufacturing (due to slowing consumer spending.)

Positions in health care and financial advice look strongest (due to the aging baby boomers). Additionally, accounting is still strong (due to tightening regulations) as is engineering.

If you're in finance (like me), you should probably lay low for a while and avoid sniffing around for a job. If you're young, you'll be fine in finding something. If you're nearing retirement, talk to aforementioned financial advisor. :)

*edit: some of my answer was particular to the American job market.
Yeah its hard but not impossible, just gotta downgrade just a tad if needs must. I'm in the North of Ireland and things are very hard to say the least. I had to downgrade myself. Hard times indeed missus, once i was a hand picked building site skilled labourer the elite of the elite now i scrub out bottles used in veterinary research. Better pay at the minute because the building trade is dead but its really demeaning shitty work. All I'm saying is things are hard but be prepared to make the best of a bad patch.

The best way to check your entitlements is to contact HMRC or the Citizens Advice Bureau. These are complicated areas and it is better to get exact information direct from the horses mouth.

look on the website entitledto.co.uk there is a calculator there that will tell u if u can and if ur able to claim anything else even housing benefit and council tax benefit. its not possible to say how much as it depends on yr age and how many hours u work and how much u earn. there is also a calculator on the inland revene tax credit website that will tell u. ps if ur single and under 25 i dont think u can claim in case this answers yr question immediately. good luck. Can I Claim Working Tax Credits while still living at home?
Good question! Honestly I doubt it, but I would look into it. The calculators online will deal only with income and use your marital status to decide your living arrangements so may not be accurate. The last thing you want is to be told you qualify, apply then be told in a years time you didn't qualify and asked to pay it all back.

The income threshold is for the household, so it might include your parents income.... the form isn't designed for your situation unfortunately. If you're over 25 I would phone and ask (0845 300 3900) but be prepared for a long wait while managers and technical advisors are brought in (tell them your credit is about to run out - you might get someone nice who'll say they'll get a manager to call you back.)
yes you will be able to claim working tax credits, you have to contact the tax office, you can get all the info online. working tax credits is not not linked to the benefits agency so theres no reason why you living at home or what your parents have as income would affect it

How Should I Go About Changing Job Titles Without Having Worked the Current One?

I was offered a job at Target at 7.50 an hour for a sales floor position. Well, after looking at other job titles that I found for another Target location on Monster.com, I'd like to have a clerical position. I'd like to have the position of the operator that you speak to when you call Target, because it entails more office work, which I need more experience in than working as a sales associate. I haven't even had orientation yet, so I'm assuming I should probably tell someone before hand, so I'll be going to an orientation that is fit for someone doing clerical work. Should I call and speak to the manager to change positions (if possible) or should I just stick this position out, since I'm planning on quitting anyway. How Should I Go About Changing Job Titles Without Having Worked the Current One?
There isn't a reason not to ask. Contact the store manager or their recruiting department and explain to them that you have seen their other job listing and that you would like to be considered for the clerical position instead of the sales associate. Employers are generally pretty receptive as hiring staff is expensive and staff who like their jobs are much more productive. If they say no then you can always simply move on and find a job you would like.

How can I get a new Social Security card?

I changed my name legally but I neglected to change it with Social Security. Now I have no ID in my old name because I turned in my old license when I got the new one and I either turned in or destroyed my old work ID. I called Social Security and the woman barely spoke English and just kept repeating to send originals.

Finally, I sent my original birth certificate, original court order, original driver's license and a letter explaining my dilemma but they sent them back demanding ID in my old name.

I don't know what to do now. I know they will not credit me for work under the wrong name but that's no big deal because if I can ever afford to retire, I don't expect Social Security to exist and if it does, it won't be enough to pay for my toilet paper. What I am concerned about is that I can never change jobs again unless I can get a card.

I feel like I need a lawyer but my old one ripped me off badly and I can't afford to spend thousands more. Please help. How can I get a new Social Security card?
I understand very well your problem. I had a different problem but it was with social security. I got tired of the stupid idiots at the office so I went to the office of local congressman. Things began to happen very fast.

Please do take this to your local congrasmans office and talk to them. SS hates it when you do this and really bends over backwards to help. How can I get a new Social Security card?
    GO TO SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE.
Find a homeless person who has your height and weight. For a reasonable fee, they will let you use theirs.

This is pretty common here in LA.
My purse got stolen once and it had my original card in there. What a pain to get a new one. I had to go into their office in person with those documents that you described and about half a year later I had a new card.

Unfortunately, it had my old name on their, as I am now married. I had to reapply all of the above and get my name changed on my new card. Another half a year later I have my new card with my husband's name on it.

I would recommend going in person, it might be the best idea, even though it is still very slow process.
If you couldn't get good result from the social security office,

find a non profit lawyer in the yellow pages or in the internet.

then ask them for some advice.

    good luck
Take a vacatrion %26amp; go to the Social Security office in your state where the ID was issued. Bring all your paperwork %26amp; explain the situation. Have an old utility bill or another similar piece of paper in your old name. Stuff as important as Social Security shouldn't be done by mail. good luck!!

Mom and I sold our condo, how do we each report the taxes?

My mom and I owned a condo for 1 yr and 9 months in WA state. We sold it and we're trying to figure out how to split the resulting profit (approx $40K total). We each received wire transfers from the escrow company for $20K. Now it's tax time and we're trying to figure out what deductions are available, and how to report any applicable taxes and what the proper forms for this might be? In particular, we are wondering if we can include the closing costs we incurred as an adjustment to our cost basis and ultimately reduce the portion of the $20k that is taxable. Also, as I changed jobs 6 months after we bought it (bought in June 2004, sold in Feb 2006). Wondering if I can take a partial exclusion on capital gains due to having job location changes in Nov. 2004, and again in July 2006). Neither job change was out of state but did effect length of my commute. Thanks so much!Mom and I sold our condo, how do we each report the taxes?
The first answer is incorrect in the final paragraph. You can, indeed, claim a partial exclusion provided you meet certain conditions. See the link below, in particular page 15. The issue I see is that you changed jobs in Nov 2004 but did not sell it until Feb 2006. That might be viewed as an excessive length of time to hold the property after changing jobs.Mom and I sold our condo, how do we each report the taxes?
since you lived in the condo for less than 2 years, you will owe long term capital gains on the profit from sale.

you can deduct all expenses in the sale of the property. (deed, title search, sales commission, property tax, )You would figure your cost basis as the price you paid plus any closing fees etc, paid at time of purchase. You actually figure your sales price as the money you received after all expenses. (sounds like it would be the 20k check)

the sale goes on Schedule d under long term capital gains.

changing jobs has nothing to do with the sale of the condo
I am not seeing any discussion about a 1099. Wasn't one issued showing the sales proceeds? If so whose ss# is on it?

If a 1099 was issued and that person does not report all the proceeds, expect a letter from the IRS. If so you have an issue in addition to all that has been discussed above.
One additional thing on the job change. Even if it was considered timely, which it probably wouldn't be, to deduct it your commute to your new job would have to have been 50 miles FURTHER from your old house than your old job was, in order to deduct moring expenses. So if the distance from your old home to your old job was 12 miles, you wouldn't be able to claim moving expenses unless your new job was at least 62 miles from your old home.

I am moving to another city, changing jobs, but still in same field, how will this effect getting a home loan?

That has nothing to do with moving or a new job and everything to do with your credit score, check it out, you want to be above 700, the higher your score, the easier it will be for.you. You are entitled to one free per year, If it's not good, you need to work on getting that cleaned up, before you think about buying a home. Good luck.I am moving to another city, changing jobs, but still in same field, how will this effect getting a home loan?
if this is the first time youve done this shouldnt be a prob...if you do it a lot itll lower your credit score.I am moving to another city, changing jobs, but still in same field, how will this effect getting a home loan?
This does have an impact on the loan you are offered. Some lenders want to know you have been with the same company for several years and have stability. If you have been in the same field for a number of years it will still work to your advantage.

The lenders I work with require at least 2 years at the same company of same line of work.

It would be different if you went from being a cafeteria worker to being a bail bondsman.
So long as you are staying in the same field and are not on probation and your lending ratios are in line(32%T.D.S. and 40% G.D.S),then you wwill have no problems getting a mortgage.
Investor guidelines suggest 2 years in the same field so you should be fine.
let's add an other view point to this question.

when moving to an other city and job, buying a house in the first 12 months of living there (long run view) is great for bankers and mortgage companies. However you don't know the areas of interest in truth just what the realtor's say.

you just spent good cash to move and need reserve should the job go Bust . Remember LIFO. you need real cash saved to get real mortgage not these easy in-easy out loans that bankers win with and you lose with. rent first year, save money, buy not on ego or pride but on real cash.

Any experts in getting a new job?

I have never been able to change jobs or get a new job. I understand the reasoning %26amp; excuses within me to why I have not been successful but don't know how to be successful. Therefore my Q is to those who are experts in getting a new job, those who change jobs lots of times, %26amp; always seem to move around in new positions. What is it you do?, what steps do you take?, Any techniques you abide by?, Laws of success to getting a new job? Thank you guys you will change a habbit of 10yrs. Any experts in getting a new job?
First you need to have a resume and cover letter to apply for a new employment opportunity. Also, you must hit the pavement running to be successful. You must apply to as many positions as possible in a day on a weekly/monthly basis.

However, it is not wise to change jobs numerous times. This does not appear to be a steady employee which a prospective employer would consider as a serious candidate.

There are many techniques to complete the job hunting process. However, you would need to be more precise as to what field of employment you are interested in becoming employed in.

I would be more than happy to break your 10 year habit if you could provide additional details to your question or if you prefer email me with the additional details.

Helpful information would be what type of employment do you currently have, what skills do you possess, what type of job to you wish to obtain, and what education and work experience you currently possess. Do you currently have a resume and a template cover letter? How do you plan on looking for openings?

Once again, I would be more than happy to assist you if you could provide additional information.

    Best wishes.

Christians: When you may need to change careers, your job?

Serious answers only please? Thanks for your respect!!!

I say Christians, because as always, sarcasm not welcome.

When looking to change jobs or careers, and after praying about it,

HOW DO YOU KNOW GOD'S WILL?

OR WHICH DIRECTION TO TAKE?Christians: When you may need to change careers, your job?
Great question! Prayer is the ultimate; pray for guidance on what to do, pray to have the strength to do His will, not your own. It is human to get fed up over situations, and ready to leap, but patience will encourage a knowledgable next move. Changing careers is a huge leap, start preparing: update the resume, applications, enroll in classes, etc. Pray before every interview, fast and meditate to open your mind. What God has for you is yours only, if it is time to make this leap, He will open doors for you, if not, be patient, He has something better and is preparing you for it. As a Christian, you know when God's hand is involved in your life, when that job comes you've been praying over, you will know if it is anointed. Many blessings to you during this phase of life!Christians: When you may need to change careers, your job?
You will get the Job you are supposed to be in

    thats how you know
I've seen people who have prayed and the way I see it's God's will is when the doors open quickly, smoothly. It says in the Bible that God opens doors no man can shut and closes doors no man can open.
Sunshine...I always pray for God to open or close doors when it comes to jobs or directions in my life...I ask Him to make it easy or hard, so I will see the way He wants me to go...My own testimony, every time I have prayed this prayer...things went real easy and peaceful...I knew that it was the place He wanted me....God Bless...Blue316
You do not know. You make a decision based on the best knowledge you have. As a Christian one of your most important criteria will be the extent you will be able to work towards bringing in His kingdom.

    Bless you.
the door(s) may open or close, listen to your conscience, it will help you hear and listen to the will of the father. be patient, and bloom where God plants you!
Follow and pursue peace --- if you don't have peace then stop and pray until you do.

I would ask very specific questions of God and ask Him to give you confirmation because you want to make the right decision.

God really does give us a lot of free reign. He will sometimes be okay with you pursuing what you really want. He may have put the desire there in the first place, so approach God confidentially and with trust.

God wants you to hear from Him more than you do.............keep praying and He'll be faithful to you.

    Thanks for Asking ! RR
Have you ever done a Beth Moore bible study? I have been doing them with some women at church and one that we did answered my very question about this.

Beth Moore (who, in case you don't know, is a very devoted Christian woman) suggested that God will sometimes put you in a role or job that is out of your comfort zone, but your desire to do it will be there. When my husband and I found out that there wasn't going to be a youth leader at our church because the others were stepping down, we were terrified of taking over because we have no experience with teenagers (we have a 3 yr. old, but that doesn't help!). But God used the Holy Spirit to put that desire in our heart. And now almost 2 years later, we love being the youth leaders!

If God wants you to do it, He'll give you the desire.

    God Bless! =)
After being ill and unemployed for a few years, it was time to get back to work. I applied for all types of positions and had many interviews. I applied for this position about three times, because they had already hired someone, she quit and it was back out in the classifieds. I love my job and it fits my personality perfectly. If you pray and ask God to lead you to the job that is just right for you, then He will. don't be discouraged if you have interviews and not hired, because your perfect job is on the way. Trust in Jesus, because He wants to bless you and allow you to be a blessing to others also. I think that blessing others at my job brings more joy and satisfaction than anything else. I love them all, pray for them everyday and they care about me also. I do feel very appreciated for the work that I do.
I don't know it's as clear as some make it sound.

Yes, definitely pray about jobs and do your homework as well. I think at times that the reason we end up in a job is for reasons we won't understand at the time--or possibly ever.

For example, sometimes we need to learn gratitude and I think sometimes we get awful jobs to teach us that.

Or we may get a weird job where we learn skills which will later be indispensable.

Other times maybe we are put in with a lot of unbelievers to serve as a witness.

Some times it's really good use of special skills, especially if you've been gifted in a healing art, for example.

Perhaps we should not assume that we are to have A career or that a job will last for a long time. There can be reasons we don't appreciate why we will change careers or jobs and I think we have to be open to that. If we make a mistake and don't pick up on what God wants, He'll take another tack to get our attention--IF we are open to Him. He definitely makes lemonade out of lemons. So I think that those of us who may stumble about more blindly may actually be doing what God wants though we don't feel any such assurance of it.

God tells us to use our minds, so in the absence of a ';knowing,'; I think we make what seems the most logical choice and take it from there.
This question is confusingly written. God does not help you in your career choice. He is not a good luck charm. You make that decision all on your own.God is always present in our life but he does not do everything for us. We are here to serve him.

Do u get bored easily, What do you do to keep your mind stimulated?

It's as though i need constant challenges (in all aspects of life) or else my brain shuts down and i turn into a cabbage......... I change jobs when the novelty of the newness has worn off, but of course i can't keep doing that...... If this is you, how do u handle it?Do u get bored easily, What do you do to keep your mind stimulated?
Me Too; Well it used to be. I got a job with a large firm.

I learned everything I could in one department and then transferred to a different department. I did this about every

year. Each time it was like a new job with different people only the same employer.

    I also tried learn anything I could from any source available;

Computers were new so I bought the cheapest one I could

find; Took it apart to find out how it worked and the joined

    a computer club.

I retired at 48 and started my own business to stay active.

This gives me something new everyday.

This is what I did. You may wish to expand on some of

this to see if it can be modified to fit you.Do u get bored easily, What do you do to keep your mind stimulated?
your brain needs a bigger challenge then what you are giving it, its as simple as that! Or maybe you should try other activities outside of work if you haven't already to make your job not so drab? I'm not sure what to say, seeing as I am the SAME way; I get bored no matter what I'm doing... I think it could be part of the way we were raised maybe? I was really spoiled so nothing could entertain me, maybe you're the same way?

When I get bored, I start meditation to keep my mind stimulated.

Software engineers are now earning less money then they were a few years ago but there are still jobs out there. A minor in math out help you definitely. I don't think that it will give you a lot more flexibility.

How often have you changed jobs in your life?

My generation, coined 'generation Y' or the 'echo boomers', are supposed to be unloyal workers who change jobs frequently: A 2008 survey by UK recruitment consultancy FreshMinds Talent in partnership with Management Today suggested that Generation Y are generally more ambitious, brand conscious and tend to move jobs more often than previous generations. The survey of over 1,000 people, entitled Work 2.0, also suggests several possible misconceptions about Generation Y, including that they are as loyal as their predecessors and believe that their job says something about them as individuals.

I have just read several answers where 'previous generations' have walked out of jobs after a couple of weeks and even a half day! Do you feel like you are/were more loyal to your employers than my generation? How often have you changed jobs in your life?
For me, yes. I only had 4 jobs in my life, but each time I was loyal. I only quit to go back to school. Three were before returning to college, the last one was my career.

Here's a Halloween joke for you.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;How often have you changed jobs in your life?
the younger generation has a desire to better themselves so unlike what we were taught..stay on your job til you die..think about it, that's the way we were taught to believe...
I had about thirty jobs in fourty years, two of which lasted seven years , two others lasted four years and the rest were mostly on short term contracts. If you stay around too long you end up being part of the furniture ,as one or two of my superiors found out when they ended up working for me
During WW2 we were moved about a lot,I had 4 jobs in 2 years, then 2 years in the R.A.F ENDING IN 1949 .Since then i worked 43 tears for the same company. At that time there were many people who had been presented with gold watches for having served for 25 years. the reports of this type of presentation seem almost none existent today. This surely shows a lack of long service and loyalty. dont you think?.
I had numerous part time jobs in my teens and early twenties and time in each varied from a few weeks to several years. In my professional life and full time job, I've stayed at least five years in each job. I worked for thirty years as a teacher and during that time I moved twice. The advantage for me has been a good pension and good insurance in my senior years.

I see nothing wrong with changing jobs frequently if that's what you want to do and especially if you're able to improve your job situation and salary with each move. The only thing that concerns me about this is that if you do this, you must be a diligent long time saver from the very start of your career. If you're not, you'll really regret it in your senior years when you have nothing to fall back on except a government pension.
Generation has nothing to do with work ethics.

I don't compare my ability, whether it be in the work force or in life in general.

I have been self sufficient, and I get a great deal of self satisfaction in getting a job well done.

We are what and who we are - no better - no less than any one else, unless we think we are one of the elitist or those who have the need to set themselves a cut above others.

Loyalty has to do with your character, commitment, dedication cooperation.

Surveys or poll's are about a justified job description. They do not mean anything to me. They have to perpetuate their job, with one stupid poll after another.

I'm 73 and I have always tried to be all I could be to the best of my ability. I did change jobs, working myself up the ladder, but I found thee job that was right for me and I stayed with it, until retirement.

    Good question.

    DeeJay.

I have reinvented myself so many times, I don't even rememeber who I am anymore. Not like in my dad's day, but then I guess he was afraid to branch out and look for other opportunities. He ended up working for the same company for years , was laid off and, for his years of loyalty, punctuality and dependability, received zilch toward his twilight years.

I am loyal to my employers only insofar as I realize that all employment nowadays is ';at will,'; meaning that a person can be dismissed for any reason, or no reason at all.
I've probably had about 10 full time jobs, and a number of part time. The longest I ever worked at one was 8 years. I've always given notice, and left on good terms. My problem is that I love a challenge. One I understand the job, it gets boring, and I move on to another challenge.

I am very loyal, and always get along well with my co-workers.
I'm 67, I have changed jobs including a business of my own at least 12 times so far, granddad told me never be satisfied if you can better yourself.
I have had 7 different jobs in my life. I feel my generation has a better work ethic than some younger folks. It's almost like they want to punch in and out but don't do much in between. And some seem to be keeping score on what everyone else is doing.
.I was taught to do an honest days work for an honest days pay.I have always lived up to that.

    Loyal??

I 'am loyal to my family, myself and then my employer

With that said Survey and Polls don't say much. We are all different
Well, at 61 years old, I've had several jobs...starting with a paper route, an ice cream/milk store, a mom%26amp;pop grocery, clean up crew (blood room) in a chicken processing plant, a garage door factory, the US Navy (20 years+), a Little Caesar's manager, a truck driver, a gov't contractor working on US Navy ships (6 weeks), a warehouse manager in a local shipyard (7 years), a cemetery supervisor (6 months) and now a logistics tech working with foreign navies(15 + years). That doesn't include some part time jobs I've had: fire alarm sales, deliverer/cook for Domino's, self service gas station booth attendant, taxi driver, janitor for several companies.

Only two times did I not have a job lined up when I left anther...the USN when I retired, and when I got laid off at the shipyard due to lack of work contracts with the US Navy.
i changed jobs more times than i can remember,3 months was average before i was bored out of my brain.loyal to the employer ,not the job itself.

wasn't until i got into aged care that i developed some staying power.

obviously i was in the wrong kinds of job before that.

    ps started work at 14.
I had a couple of seasonal jobs before my office jobs. My1st office job was for 2 yrs. The 2nd was a temp for 3 mo. and my 3rd over 31 yrs.
i wasnt. i have walked out after half a day time to go look for something else after lunch i could not afford to waste a day on something that was not going to work out.. I have been hired for a certain job. then i get there and they had baited and switched me to something i didn't want to do. if they mentioned it in the first place i would have not accepted the job. I think they knew that and tried to trick me. not very honest of them maybe they thought I would feel stuck for a few weeks
When I found out college wasn't ready for me( blew a full ride in 4 months) then I had to go to work. Had 3 jobs from 1972 to1975 when I hired on the Police department. Stayed there until I retired in 2004 and now work at local hospital as security so I have had 5 jobs in 36 years.
Lots of part time jobs back in school. Three years in one bank, 5 in another, one in personnel for a grocery store %26amp; then 20 years in the post office.
I've changed a lot when it was unbearable to work with people I didn't like!! Rather than cause a fuss I'd leave! I could always find another job!! Longest I worked was 6 years of the Native Tribes and B.I.A.!!
in my lifetime i have had 10 employers. lost some of the jobs to layoffs. never quit but one and i just could not get along with the boss.i was with my last employer 30 years
I have had 5 jobs, and one was part-time.
Changed many times and was as loyal to my employer as I felt they were loyal to me.
    I've changed jobs many times, bu have always given notification -- that is NOT unloyal. I've also retired after 20 years service with two separate organizations when I found my ';niche';
I have had 3 jobs in my life; my 23 year old daughter has had at least 8. You decide who was more loyal to their employer.
No. There was a year when I had 12 jobs, the man who did our taxes was amazed! He said he was surprised I had that many because there were so many others looking for even one job. I am only loyal to family. Poppy
I change when I am needed anymore or if I am living in another town.
I have basically had 4 jobs in my life, all in different fields. . . and worked an average of 8 yrs. on each one. I'd say I was loyal to them all. Responsibility and commitment mean a lot to me. Of course being a mother is not added in on these jobs, because it is never ending !
Never, worked for the Post Office for 40 years..

    Retired for 2 years now.

Where can I find out how many miles per gallon my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT gets?

try msn auto then compare. put in your year make model and trim and then it well tell u all the info u should need

    not a virus...honest...that should tell u.. 21/32

http://autos.msn.com/research/compare/deWhere can I find out how many miles per gallon my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT gets?
The method to use in determining your mileage is as follows; Fill your tank, then jot down the mileage...drive until you add fuel the next time...take the mileage that you traveled and divide the gallons you pumped into the miles you traveled and that is your mileage....
What ever you find, is going to be what your car would get ion the perfect condition ex (MPH,Road condition, humidity, temperature)

Just calculate it yourself. Divide the amount of gallons it took to fill up your tank from the amount of miles you went from the last fill up.

in a 2001 GA 3.4 city driving could be anywhere from 18MPG-24MPG

while freeway driving could be anywhere from 23MPG-33MPG (if your lucky)

just depends on how you drive, where you drive, etc...
All the EPA ratings are wrong...always.

You might as well ask a first-grader what MPG your car gets.

    Verify it yourself.

How do I stop changing jobs frequently?

In my 4 year career I've worked for 5 companies and in 2 companies I've worked for as short as 2 months. Now I'm about to leave my current job (9 month old) and join a new company. It's not just because of salary that I change jobs. Every time I join a job, I start with a lot of zeal, but few weeks down the line I start losing interest in it. I become bored of the work place, colleagues and start looking for fresh jobs. How do I get rid of this habit? Or should I look for some job that offers me with new changes every time? How do I stop changing jobs frequently?
I discovered the website in the box below in recent times when I was looking for a new career. I was in a dead-end job but I wasn't certain what I wanted to do or how to get there. The instruction on the site helped me to settle on my new career, and gave me some good ideas about how to set off.How do I stop changing jobs frequently?
Henry L is correct. The point of working is not to work a job for years on end for no reason other than to get by. You should be working towards self employment so you dont have to work for other people eventually. Im 27, I moved from job to job, and a lot more than you and quit many after only 2 weeks. Not a big deal. I had over 19 jobs under my belt before I was 24, when I eventually became self employed.
every job should be a learning experience to be self empolyed,

n sometime it is not that u want to go but the boss want to downsize

  • How can I Stop my Self Consciousness from Ruining My Life?

Hi. My problem is really two problems. The first I seemed to have suffered most of my life and the second, in the last few months.

My first problem is one that I didn't realise was a problem until I spoke to other people and read about it. Here goes: I am constantly occupied with what other people think about me, whether they like or don't like me. This isn't just with people I know, it's strangers, the public, people at work or who I'm around in town or passing on the street for instance. For example, before going into the supermarket I will feel really self conscious and run scenarios through my head about what people think about me or how they will see me. Even being at the check-out counter in a queue will make me feel self-conscious as I think about how others around assess me. This isn't normal, right? I am never relaxed when I talk to someone as I'm constantly thinking that they think I'm talking rubbish or look/act in someway stupid. In social situatons I can't relax and I feel like I am always pretending to be confident. To others I am, but inside I am crying.

This has always ruled my life but I'm realising it's ruining my life. I attract people who abuse my friendship/relationship. Most recently, I'm still in contact wth an emotionally abusive ex and broke friends with a girl who constantly took me for granted and betrayed my trust..I constantly change jobs due to feeling I don't fit in or because I feel uncomfortable about someone who I think doesn't like me rather, than havng the confidence to bite the bullet or stand up for myself.

Now I've started a job I really want and it pays extremely well but in my head I think I'm not good enough to do it and can't believe the company has employed me, such a fraud. It calls for me to do presentations which I have done once but they fill me with dread. I'm scared because I don't want to leave this job. It's my third day and already I'm dreading walking into the office, worrying what to say to people and worrying that I'll not fit in, or be as confident/funny/clever as the others in my team. I really want some help on how to overcome this.

My second problem is that in the last couple of months I find it so hard to get out of bed in the morning. I feel down in the morning, feel like staying in bed and ignoring everything and find it hard to motivate myself to do much other than go to work. I avoid what few friends (often arguing with them or feeling they are being negative towards me) I have now left and whereas once I was fit and regularly went to the gym, it's a struggle now. I'd rather eat, surf the web every evening and avoid talking to my mum and dad who sit downstairs.

I'm 32, have been single for 2 years and feel very lonely. On the outside to others I'm confident, very attractive, friendly and outgoing. I seem fine but really I'm not. I just want to be happy, relaxed and normal. Sorry this is so long but this is the first time I can let my feelings out and your help would be appreciated.

ThanksHow can I Stop my Self Consciousness from Ruining My Life?
You are describing Social Anxiety Disorder. I am paralyzed by it as well. I can't stop worrying about other people judging me. My self-image places me at the same level as a monster. How can I Stop my Self Consciousness from Ruining My Life?
Ok First of all take a step back and look in the mirror here stands a child brought into this world for great things. And as for what other people think. When you find yourself wondering about other people just remember that God loves you no matter who you are and if he is with you no one will stand against you...In other words they can only think the best of you if you think the best of yourself....Just look in the mirror, tell yourself that you love yourself, Go out and take the world by storm.
You're worried about what people think--so, ASK THEM WHAT THEY THINK!

Why live wondering and being miserable? Do you NOT want to live? Do you WANT to be unhappy? Why not occupy your mind with the thought that people love you!!

Guess what? If people are telling you you're attrctive and friendly, you are!!

When we are at our weakest we tend to attract those who would dominate and control us. This does not mean that they are mean people, it means they are feeding on what your projecting.

    What most people like is someone is is loving, and caring, happy and confident! Do you not care about people? Arent you tired of being outside the looking glass?? When was the last time you threw your arms around someone and hugged them hard and said ';Hey!! You know, I really love you!!';

Sweetheart, dont waste your life fearing! Get out there and show the world you're deserving of love and SHOW IT by GIVING IT!!

I want you to imagine this: A little pixie is floating in front of you, and you have one wish: and wish is to be happy. The little pixie leans in to your ear and whispers: For the rest of your life, as long as you shall live, people will need you......

Changing jobs with J1 visa HATE DOOR TO DOOR SALES!?

We have a young lady living with us who is with a company that entices foreign students to come to America under the guise of making lots of money working 80 hours a week, selling educational material door to door.

She has quickly realized that the pipe dream they sold her was exactly that---A BUNCH OF SMOKE!

She is an awesome young lady and we would like to help her change jobs. How can we go about this? The company is putting a lot of pressure on her and we would like to help set her free immediately. We have secured her with another job within the same j1 category, but do not know if she can even change jobs.

Please we are desperate to help this young lady and anyone else who has found themselves trapped in this door to door sales, cult like job here in the U.S.Changing jobs with J1 visa HATE DOOR TO DOOR SALES!?
I think the above answer is the reason why so many of these foreign j1 work/travel visa students get taken advantage of from these so called reputable door to door companies.

YES YES YES you can change jobs if you are on a 4 month j1 work visa. You can't however just quit your current job and go find another. There are a few hoops you must jump through. First you must contact your sponsor--the org. that issued your j1 work/travel visa and let them know that you are needing to change jobs. They will advise you if the new employment adheres to the specific category to your j1 visa.

There are certain jobs that a j1 work/travel visa holder can not have: Participants may not be employed as domestic employees in U.S. households or in positions that require them to invest their own money to provide themselves with inventory for the purpose of door- to-door sales.

You will also need to contact SEVIS and let them know of the job change and any new address you may have within 7 days of the change.

I am very sorry that this girl has found herself caught up with the ugly side of American business, where so called ';reputable';, ';been in business for 150 years';, companies brainwash these gullible students into thinking if they beat on enough doors, and sell the sizzle NOT the steak, they will guilt us stupid Americans into buying a product they do NOT want or need. That is NOT what America is all about. And kids this IS NOT THE AMERICAN EXPERIENCE THAT WILL BUILD YOUR CHARACTER!

There are plenty of American jobs for these kids, on this work program that will ACTUALLY allow them to experience true America and also have a life (not working 80 hours a week--6 days a week!) and actually make money with decency and honesty and still have respect for themselves at the end of the day!

God bless you for taking this kid in and saving her from these scum bags! I wish more people would open their eyes to injustices and lend a helping hand!Changing jobs with J1 visa HATE DOOR TO DOOR SALES!?
Foreign nationals participating in exchange visitor programs may only engage in activities authorized for their program. She is bound to the employment described in the program. A J-1 classification is not a catch-all category that permits employment in any field of endeavor in which the J-1 has an interest.

It sounds like she is enrolled in a short summer work program. Designated sponsors of summer and/or work travel exchange programs are obligated to pre-arrange employment. If she finds the employment unsatisfactory, she is free to terminate the employment, but she is not free to work somewhere else.

An exchange visitor who engages in unauthorized employment shall be deemed to be in violation of his or her program status and is subject to termination as a participant of an exchange visitor program.

For Permanent Worker Visa, you can have a company sponsor you. How long does the sponsorship have to be?

If you wish to change jobs some time in the future, is there a set time you have to work for a certain company before you can change? Do you have to fill out a new form for this or can you just change? For Permanent Worker Visa, you can have a company sponsor you. How long does the sponsorship have to be?
you can change job at any time after you get your green card. you don't have to fill out any form or inform USCIS about job changing after you receive your green card.

under I-485 Portability (AC21), you can also change job while your employment based green card petition is pending in USCIS. the new job must be the same as, or similar to, the job described in your labor certification and your petition. you will need to file for AC21 to USCIS before you change your job.

That is a very good questions many of my associates have come across this very thing. If you can get on with Federal Contractors like Blackwater , Burns , CSC, and Dyncorp etc. the corporate lawyers can help with that. Also check at Embassies in Latin America for further clarification. The Buenos Aires consulate is a very good one to work with in SA.

How do I handle a promotion with no raise?

I was promoted to Team Leader at a well-known corporation two years ago. Although I have received the company standard 3%-4% raises since then, my pay was never bumped up to match my promotion. This isn't the kind of company where you can go to the boss and ask for a raise, even with documentation of all you've done and all your new responsibilities...they give raises once a year, at our annual Performance Review. Period. But that's not even the worst. The WORST is that, now that I'm managing a team, I can see their salaries...and I'M THE LOWEST PAID on the team I'm supposed to be leading! I'm pretty sure my ONLY option at this point is to change jobs. But I LOVE what I do, and I'd HATE to go through the job-hunting stress again. So I just want to make sure that a new job is my only option before I try it. Anyone have any advice? How do I handle a promotion with no raise?
I was in the same boat.

    Given a management job but no pay increase. I step down and they got all mad. Told them, '; now you know how I feel';

    They said '; no no stay. We don't want to lose you, but can you still do the manager job until we find some';

I told them..sure!!! I did the job for 5 months before I walked off the job.

Find a new job where they will treat you better. How do I handle a promotion with no raise?
Search a job website for your area, for example monster.com has a good salary watchdog on it.

Find what your salary is compared to what others in your field are making.

As well, your salary compared to others maybe based on how long you have with the company. Have they been with the company longer?

Do they have a special skill that needs to be paid for?

Once you find all that out, go find the HR ppl and discuss money with them--just remember to dress amazing that day.

  • I am educated in the UK and have recently changed jobs here in USA, I need to know if my UK O'Levels good here

OK, I am from the UK and live in America. I have had several good jobs here but have recently relocated. In looking for a new job I find that all employers require a HSD or GED and need to know when I graduated High School. In UK we do not graduate we just finish school.

I have 2 Levels, a City and Guilds Certificate and a Certificate from the School of Counseling and Therapy. That's more than four years of further education in the UK. Does anyone know what that is worth over here in the USA. (Or how to get it transposed)

ThanksI am educated in the UK and have recently changed jobs here in USA, I need to know if my UK O'Levels good here
dito i came over from uk to us and am a teacher

u need to get yr transcripts and all yr colleges to send yr transcripts directly to an agency like the world education services who transpose yr transcript over to american equivalent courses.

it take a few weeks - esp if u do it the wrong way and get yr certificates sent to u then forwarded they reject them- yes i learn the hard way

good luck with all the paperwork!I am educated in the UK and have recently changed jobs here in USA, I need to know if my UK O'Levels good here
Can you get a letter or certificate from your school that states that you finished. Present it to your potential employer as your ';high school diploma.'; The education system is different in each country, but since you are in this one you need to accept, pleasantly, the differences. Good luck in your job search.
You should be OK, American schools are the easiest I've ever seen

How can my wife and I live in a clean safe house that we can modify as required by her illness?

We have no savings, and our credit rating is getting worse each month, because I am not paid enough even if I work OT, and everything is so expensive.

if her illness prevents her from working you could apply for disability for her.

your local social services or welfare department may be able to help wit the burden of some of your expenses.

like food stamps or medacaidHow can my wife and I live in a clean safe house that we can modify as required by her illness?
Obviously it sounds like she's not working. Have you checked on social security/disability due to her health? I'm not sure, worth checking though. Wish you all the best!

How do you prove that your stress is work-related?

I am going through hell at work, being harassed and discriminated against by my supervisor. I have reported him but because of our different ethnicities, he is always believed over me.

Please don't tell me to change jobs. I have a civil service job with good pay and benefits. No one is going to run me out of a job that I enjoy. It's the supervisor who is the problem. Transferring is not an option. I am so very stressed out that I am having trouble sleeping and concentrating. Thank you.How do you prove that your stress is work-related?
If you have a union you can look to them. If not the keep going up the ladder to complain. In this day and age of technology you should be able to audio or video his a$$, there's your proof, let them deny that! How do you prove that your stress is work-related?
Ask God for direct + action = direction, relate yourself to God = relationship, this maybe a test = testimony in the future.
If you have spoken to him then speak to his supervisor. If this doesn't bring results continue up the chain of command until someone listens. If that doesnt work file a lawsuit citing discrimination, harrassment, etc. Hopefully it won't go that far and if it does you may not want to stay anyway. Good luck.
Talk to your doctor and start getting documentation. Document everything date and times this will help you. Continue to report to your HR director. and talk to someone in from the EOC and get legal advice. But document everything of what is going on.

鈥hat are some reasons why some people continue working at the same job for a long time?

Do you think people should stay in the same jobs all their lives (or long term)? (Why?/Why not?)

How do you think employers could encourage people not to change jobs?hat are some reasons why some people continue working at the same job for a long time?
people like the comfort of being familiar to their job. People don't like to change. It's easier to just stay where you are. i think people should stay at thier job until they decide to retire of they truly love thier job. If they look forward to getting up and going to work then why not stay there.

If you dread getting up every moring and just the thought of going to work makes you feel queasy then it may be time to look for a new job.

you could encourage people to stay by offering good insurance, more pay, or better hours;more flexibility.hat are some reasons why some people continue working at the same job for a long time?
People dont like change! I have experienced this at my job first hand. I work with 3 women that have worked at my job for 30+ years. They do not like change one bit. I think they are scared of it.
Insecurity and living from paycheck to paycheck...
    They actually like it.

They know the way to work.

    They have no other options.

    Is that enough?
People may stay at thier jobs for a million reasons. Some people don't like learning something new or being in a new environment. They get comfortable in a certain place and choose to stay there. Change scares them. Others have it made and it just wouldn't benefit them to leave. Some have worked thier way up and make good money, so they don't want to start back off at the bottom again. I know of people who stay because they get good benefits that aren't offered elsewhere.

I think it's completely up to the individual as to whether or not they should stay with one job. It depends on what you are looking for. Some may hop around looking for something that they like or will get them the experience they need to advance. Others may just be looking for stability. There's no right or wrong answer to this really. A person's needs or desires may change.

Employers should offer competitive pay, good benefits, a comfortable workplace, and various incentives to employees.

How will climate change effect jobs?

people always say that stopping climate change will cause people to loose jobs and crash the economy, how dose it work? How will climate change effect jobs?
Jobs via government grant programs have already sky-rocketed. The grant money that these 'Man-did-it' global warming scientists are scrambling for has been dramatically increasing for several years. Their 'doom and gloom' message will continue until the golden goose is used up.

When the money is gone, some of them may actually get back to some HONEST science based on facts and not financial politics. How will climate change effect jobs?
    everyone will die
We'll have to spend hundreds of billions dealing with coastal flooding and damage to agriculture. That will hurt, like any disaster does. More here:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6096
Global warming is caused (or believed to be caused) by modern industrial society burning so much coal, oil and natural gas which releases millions of tons of carbon dioxide into the air. The only known way to stop releasing all that carbon dioxide is to stop burning coal, oil and natural gas. Now obviously most jobs depend on burning that coal, oil and natural gas, and if we stop all those jobs go away. Coal is widely used to make steel and generate electricity. If we stopped burning coal we would not be able to make steel or electricity (although some electricity is made by nuclear or hydroelectric and that could continue). Obviously that would destroy millions of jobs, any job that needs steel or electricity. And of course oil is used to power all kinds of transportation, like trucks and airplanes and ships and trains and farm tractors, in addition to cars. Without oil then all those transportation jobs are gone. And all the benefits of the transportation like the ability of most people to live in cities far from farms and the ability to live far from work or school or shopping, where far is any distance more than a couple miles. Without modern transportation large cities could not function and we would have to abandon them to go back to living in small communities near farms. This is in fact the ultimate goal of the most extreme environmentalists, all people living in small communities near farms.
yes it will for example if you are a marine biologist and global warming affects the ocean you can see majore things happen
Hillary says that she will produce green jobs.

  • How does a single person afford to buy a home?

I make good money and I still can't afford a nice home. At least not in CT. But if I moved, then I would have to change jobs. How do people do it?How does a single person afford to buy a home?
    God I don't know

I don't even know how married couples pull it off really

it's getting harder because the banks are getting really picky because of all the forclosures too

but you're right saving up 20% of a 200k+ house seems like an impossibility.... for the downpayment

    and everything else

I've wondered over this same question many many timesHow does a single person afford to buy a home?
It is not dependent on marital status. If you have money and you can afford it in a state you live, you can buy it. Some married people with less income can not afford for example.

Check your credit history, check your borrowing power, check your monthly installment for the average house in CT and see if you can buy or not.

Otherwise, hook up with someone who is making more money and buy as a joint owner.

How do companies that manage 401ks for employees make money? Is my employer paying them to manage my 401k?

The company that currently manages my 401k told me that I would not have to roll it over when I change jobs - that I could leave it with them.

However, now I am wondering if they are going to charge me if I leave with them and no longer work for my old employer. How do companies that manage 401ks for employees make money? Is my employer paying them to manage my 401k?
They might charge you...doubtful but it's a possibility. If you left it in your employer's 401k then you would incur the same level of fees that you do now. If you roll into into an IRA with them they likely will put you in assets that have slightly higher fees.

Here's the kicker....the fees aren't generally labeled with the word ';FEE';. They are built into the expense ratios of a fund. What the mutual fund does is add up the value of every stock, bond, cd, and piece of cash that is owned by the fund. It then multiplies that amount by the expense ratio. This is the amount that they collect in fees. They then lop that piece right off the top and come up with what's called the Net Asset Value (NAV) which is value after expenses. They then divide the NAV by the number of shares and come up with the price that the mutual fund will be valued at (purchased at) the following day. This is also called the NAV.

So, you are getting charged a daily fee...you just don't see it. What you need to make sure is that is that expense ratio that you are paying worth the returns that they are providing. In many cases the expense ratios inside a 401k are so much lower for the exact same funds that it's worth it to leave it in there rather than rolling it into an IRA with the same company. How do companies that manage 401ks for employees make money? Is my employer paying them to manage my 401k?
Yes, your company pays them and you do, too. You would be better off rolling it over into an IRA of your choice.

How much should one expect to make per hour working at a hotel chain?

assume extensive customer service experience, etc., and a hotel chain like a hilton. (just wondering if i should even bother to change jobs)How much should one expect to make per hour working at a hotel chain?
It really depends on experience and the market in the area that you are looking for a new job. Also depends on the department. Generally you will make more hourly working at night, say a night auditor or night security. You will generally make more money at the front desk than in housekeeping, but sometimes the bonuses/incentives in housekeeping are better. If you want more information about your area go to www.hcareers.com. Check it often as they add new positions and position descriptions daily.

Hope this helps! How much should one expect to make per hour working at a hotel chain?
wouldn't that depend which country you are working in?

If so, maybe say the country you intend to work in?

How do I deal with this situation at work?

I'm feeling trapped. My boss has a problem with me and I think the best thing to do would be to change jobs but I've been looking for a while and can't find anything at this level. I'd be willing to take a pay cut but just can't afford to take too much of a cut . I think she'd like to get rid of me but it's not so easy because I've had a very good reputation with her boss and peers. Some of the things she's trying to implement are going to be detrimental to our office and work (and staff) and I've voiced my concerns and because of this she has told me exactly what she thinks of me and it's all very negative. She is a pretty ruthless woman and I see myself being isolated with my reputation rapidly going downhill. As she also has (I think) a good reputation with her peers and her boss I am reluctant to bring my so-called 'negativity' to their attention. Our HR dept also report to her.How do I deal with this situation at work?
In the UK, there must be someone impartial from a HR perspective. Try ACAS or Citizens' Advice. Its a horrid situation, utterly uncomfortable %26amp; that awful feeling of powerlessness.

When you voiced your concerns, did you suggest alternatives? It may be worth suggesting that you were hasty over her decisions %26amp; how willing is she to work together with you to achieve the best Don't regard this as kissing butt so much as a lesson in how to deal with those who think differently. Also, when you get interviewed for your next job, it provides a great example on how your overcame difficulties to reach an agreeemtn in which everyone is happy. (It may leave a bitter taste for a while but keep your friends close %26amp; your enemies closer!) Good luck! How do I deal with this situation at work?
she is jealous of you.... go above her and quietly make your concerns known......... good luck... your boss should try to be more professional....
Go to her and tell her that you are sorry for any misunderstanding and that you are fully on board with her gameplan. Then start looking for another job.
get the cow drunk then slap her
That's what HR departments are for is to let them know what's going on. Just because they report to her doesn't mean you have no way out. She's reports to someone also(unless she the owner). You don't have to look like your negative to anyone, there are ways to say what you have to say. Maybe she could recommend another department for you or even make some contacts outside if she wants you out that bad. You must not be doing that bad if your still there.

Good luck my dear I hope it works out for you.
sounds like an attempt at constructive dismissal
One thing to think about is that she is the boss. Your not working in a democracy and she is the dictator of your world at work. If you have not tried turn the negative into a positive and look for the good in her and the work instead of the other. Maybe she's trying to bring out the best in you. But beings I have only 1 side to this story it does make it hard to see both sides..

    good luck...
BE STRONG strong....NEVER GIVE UP YOUR power to another . it will leave you as a deshevilled emaciated prune! Go to the tribunal if she is 'teasing you with her finger' as they say in the profession. Irrispective of what gender your boss is, NO ONE needs to be treated thus. It is NOT conducive to a healthy work environ. Try cabin crew. this will whisk you away sweet pea. make you gurgle and live your dreams.

And for youur therapy [i am a trained but eccentric top uk therapist] read the entire poem by Rudyard Kiplig [author of The jungle Book] entitled 'If'.

And study each and every line.

That will be the answer to your predicament - *** - dilemma.

    Take care and GOOD LUCK......

    xx
Make a note of how your being treated over a period of time. Get some advice from friends at work ie your union Rep then make your complaint if things get no better, check you complaints procedures first. It seems to me that this problem will continue until you put a stop to it, don't be put off by her position at work
The following are my thoughts based on what I would do if I was trying to hold onto my job after the event you described:

The bottom line is that you are there to assist her achieve her goals. You've stated your disagreement with her objectives and she provided you with some candid feedback. (Hopefully, your disagreement with her and her response were in private. It is inappropriate to have these discussions in public, and difficult to reverse the damage in that situation.)

Unless her objectives are illegal or unethical, it is time you had a private follow-up discussion with her. You should point out to her that you've had some time to think about your previous discussion, and that your intention is to support her 100%. The thoughts you voiced were your honest opinion at the time, and were meant to be constructive--as you care about the company. Now that your boss has made a decision, you are on board with it and there will be no second thoughts--to her or anyone else. Based on her candid response to your comments, you will try to be more appropriate when providing feedback, and you are open to suggestions on how to discuss any future issues in a way that she finds acceptable.

If you made comments in front of others, you would be in trouble with 95% of managers. You should sincerely apologize and ask if there are any actions she would like you to take to resolve potential damage.

Now is not the time to worry about your pride. Patch open wounds... in private.

    Good luck.
You need to formally make a complaint about her to the HR department with an independant witness present. They are then forced to investigate the situation and if you are able to further produce evidence of her ';picking'; on you such as with emails, other witnesses or letters.

Basicaly you have a case for constructive dismissal, however be very careful about doing something. If you have no evidence then they may not be able to do anything and all you'll do is dig a hole you can't get out of.

Speak to a solicitor if needs be or the citizens advice buro
Hi, this sounds familiar to an experience I had 5 years ago. I voiced genuine concerns to my female boss, about changes she was implementing in our office. She singled me out, took every opportunity of ridiculing me in front of younger members of staff, and was very condescending. Basically she was an actress, and I watched her perform to senior members of staff, fluttering her eyelashes, and being mystified as to why I was always against her, and telling them I had a negative attitude. I went to H.R., who were also under her spell. I know it shouldn't have, but it made my situation worse. Eventually, my sanity was at stake here, so I ended up going 'sick', to give me time to re-evaluate. Acouple of the girls at work kept calling to tell me that she was 'planning something', to get rid of me, so I took the decision that 'no job is worth this'. These people are insecure bullies, and can be very dangerous to deal with. I was warned when I started, to 'watch my back with her', which seemed ridiculous at the time. A good way of evaluating someone as a boss is the length of service of their staff. Do they have a high turnover of staff? Does she? You sound like a nice person, so I wish you all the luck in this serious situation, but if she isn't a genuine person, then no amount of talking to her will change your situation, and possibly make it worse. [If it can get worse]. Also, if she really is as devious as the one I knew, she could appear to resolve the differences with yourself, and, when you least expect it , stab you in the back at a later date. Reading back thru your question just now before I submit this, I wouldn't trust her! P.S. I think it's the same person!!
Best thing to do bide your time until you do find another job.

  • How long does a misdemeanor stay on your record in Kansas?

I received a misdemeanor ticket for open container 3/1/07 and completed the diversion requirements in 5/07. How long will this be on my record and is there any way to get it off. I am trying to change jobs. ThanksHow long does a misdemeanor stay on your record in Kansas?
If you do nothing, it will generally stay on your record forever. You are eligible for expungement, however. The only problem is you're about two years away from eligibility.

In Kansas, you can apply for expungement to the court in which you were diverted if three years have elapsed from the time you completed the conditions of your diversion. In May of 2010 you can apply to have the entire record expunged, including your arrest records. How long does a misdemeanor stay on your record in Kansas?
Criminal offenses don't come off your record the way bad credit comes off your credit report after several years.

The record WILL show, however, that you completed diversion.
Amy has a good answer. The only way to get it off your record is to have it ex ponged. The crime must be several years old and then you can petition the court to remove it.

It sounds like you are doing as much as you can. You can also maybe speak with your benefits person at work at maximize how you use your health plan. sometimes they have accounts where you set aside money to pay for medical expenses before taxes. You can also try to write or call the pharmaceutical company that makes the medicine your wife is on and ask if they have a program to assist you with the cost. You might also ask her doctor if he has any free samples of that medication or is there any other medicine that is less expensive. How can my wife and I live in a clean safe house that we can modify as required by her illness?
You can still change jobs but you'll have to maintain coverage through Cobra so that there is no lapse.
I feel bad for you and your wife. Our country needs to develop a health plan for every american citizen. There has to be an answer to our medical situations. It makes me sick. I have been in a simular situation as yours. I had to go on disability with my company. Until I couldn't work they paid my insurance for me. NOW I have to pay $440.00 per month for cobra. No other companies will give me the coverage I need.

That's why I am so hateful toward our government. I think it is simply awful that we spend the money on war and other countries. People in the U.S. are in poor shape, take care of your own first. Everyone says if we don't fight other countries they will be over here after us. GOOD, when you see the jerks enter, then kill them off. I loved when they were worried about ';weapons of mass destruction'; in the beginning of the mess. Then we see on T.V. they were fighting us by throwing rocks at us....................I think we live in a sorry state of affairs.

And I say, BULL PUCKY!!!! Help your own people first and don't worry about other countries.

Sorry to vent on you, but there is no way you should have such a low paying job and all those health issues with your wife.

You cannot possibly live on $7.00 per hour or even $10.00 an hour, I don't know how people make it. It takes two full time paychecks to make a meager living. People continue to have children. I don't know how they can afford to take care of them.

In the next election I am voting for whoever comes up with something we can believe on a health plan for everyone. I don't care if it's Scooby Doo, they will get my vote........

Much Luck to you and your wife and may God Bless you and help you.

How can I tell what jobs are in demand in my area?

Does anybody know of a site that can tell you what jobs are in demand in your area and how much they pay? My husband is considering a job change and wants to go back to college but was wanting to research some careers. We live in a small town and don't have a lot of options?? He has taken some networking classes but he is unsure of how available that job is here? How can I tell what jobs are in demand in my area?
just look at local want ads - the ones with the most listings will be the ones in demand - same if you check a particular city/area on monster.com or similar websiteHow can I tell what jobs are in demand in my area?
see if there is a career counselling office at the educational institution he is attending.
The Want Ads will tell you the situation now.

School takes a couple of months, and the situation may change.

What are the industries in your area and how are they doing?
There usually is a state employment service office in every county--probably in the town or city where the county government is located. They have information on all jobs open in that area, and probably it would be helpful to talk to the people who manage the office.

Your local Chamber of Commerce also may have some information about the kind of jobs that are available in your area, pay scales, education requirements, etc.

I will probably be working bailor shift on the weekends (2- 12 hour shifts) from 7pm-7am, and two 2nd shifts from 3-11pm during the week. I have to work the night shift because I have no choice with the schedule for my children. By 11:00pm I am exhausted. Any ideas on how I can help my body adjust to the completely different time change for the weekend shift? I know it will take a while but any ideas to help would be greatly appreciated! How do I adjust to different shifts?
When I graduated from nursing school, I had 4 children so I chose 11-7 shift so I could be home when they went off to school and be there when they went to bed. I did this for 12 yrs. Once they left home or were able to take care of themselves, I switched to 3-11. I'm not a morning person. It was difficult. On my days off, I forced myself to stay awake until night time so I could get on track. It was hard, but it worked. Many, many times an inconsiderate nurse would call in at 10;30 pm to say she couldn't make it and I was forced to do a double when I was on the 3-11 shift. Boy, that was a killer. You have to keep yourself busy for your days off by walking with your children, taking them to the park, and you will find that you get a second wind and you're not tired at that time. When it's time to go back to your regular schedule of 3-11 and the 12 hr shifts, again, you have to forcre yourself to take a nap during the day. If you could have someone watch your children even for a couple of hours, it's a big help. Ask you husband to help you out or a family member. I know what you're going through, believe me. It seems you never get use to these time changes but you are obviously a very dedicated person to continue this. I'm not sure what an LNA is, Is it the same as an LPN or CNA? Some states have different titles for nurses or aides. It's people like you that make a great difference in dedication and I can say from experience, I am proud of you for working so hard. God bless you. Try doing what I suggested, I hope it works for you and drink a lot of coffee.lolHow do I adjust to different shifts?
Hi, I just want you to know, even though we don't know each other, you will always have my highest regards. Talk to your bf, tell him how you feel, he may not even know. Anytime you want to talk, mail me. OK?
